Steven,

What you say may be completely accurate.  But our Chief of State has  
indicated that he wants to spread Democracy around the world.  Saying  
that he wants to spread "representative republics" around the world  
doesn't have the same sound bite quality.  Especially since so many  
of the "democracies" that we claim to support are actually  
Parliamentary forms of government without the same separation of  
powers we possess.
