[Grovenet] I Saw Something Nice Today

We've exchanged gripes here about how dangerous and difficult it can be for
bicyclists around here. Today I saw something different. Something
astonishingly good.

I had finished my two circuits "power walking" around the Fernhill Wetlands
and had returned to my car, got strapped in and pulled up to the exit onto
Fernhill road when a flock (Gaggle? Mob? Pride? Herd?) of bicyclists
streamed by headed my way toward Highway 47. So I pulled out behind them and
gave them a safe distance as they carefully navigated the rail road tracks
and pulled up at the stop sign at Highway 47.

Clearly, they were looking to cross Hwy 47 and head on into Forest Grove. So
we waited for a gap in traffic.

Suddenly traffic stopped. A semi truck southbound on Highway 47 stopped well
clear of the intersection and a car alongside it stopped in the second
southbound lane. A pickup truck and another car stopped in the northbound
lanes, leaving a large clear gap for the bicyclists to cross all four lanes
safely.

That was, for me, a very pleasant surprise to see. Sometime to remember next
time I see a motorist barging along endangering someone on a bicycle.
