[Grovenet] Snow for Christmas

Gee, Alan, is it true? The Cascade crest will have a better than 75% chance of
experiencing a white Christmas? And we can expect the usual?
I often spend the first week of December in the Bay Area, and on the way down
this year, someone mentioned that snow was in the forecast. Drat, I missed
that one. But unlike the situation a couple of years ago, the Cascade crest
was all decked out in snow on my return. It was great (for me) that Amtrak
was about 3 hours late (thanks to Union Pacific for side-tracking the
passenger train for three hours so they could shuttle locomotives). That
meant I could enjoy breakfast in the diner along the beautiful upper
stretches of the Sacramento River (where it would have been dark if the train
had been on schedule). And the passage over Willamette Pass is always a
delight.
