[Grovenet] A fool speaking

I read that piece too.

Of course Christmas is different things to different people.

For some it's still a time to be self-indulgent and collect lots of toys,
party and have a good time.

For some it's a religious festival and observance.

For others it's a time to contribute to their society.

And for many it's a time for families to have a "truce" and come together at
least once without too much animosity.

It seems to me that none of those reasons, and probably a dozen I've not
thought of, are necessarily related.

I get the impression that the most disappointed folks in our society tend to
be good, dedicated Christians who feel *their* holiday has been overrun by
commercial or secular interests. In fact, it was the Christian religion who
tried to take away the old pre-Christian festival and turn it into a
Christian religious observance. They didn't succeed too well, but well
enough to satisfy most people.

Thanks Ron...
I was trying to figure out how to present this today... Now, I'm saying
the persn who wrote this is a fool, but it does fit in with ... Ron wrote
.... As Hobbes demonstrates, it's all about relationships between people,
not relationships to things.
