I learn something everyday.
I never realized that the pilgrims brought American rodeos over from Egland
on the ships when they first came here.
Here I was thinking thinking that the rich tradition of the vaqueros had a
lot to do with the development of rodeos in the new American west and when I
look it up in the dictionary rodeo is a spanish word that we adopted.
But my goodness, now I know that Americans own rodeos and the influences
from south of the border should merely be cast aside in favor of the
traditional Chinese celbrations using fireworks.
When the Chinese call in our national debt we can at least claim that we
have been having the proper celebrations.
And I will be home protecting my property from the illegal fireworks that my
neighbors so thoughtfully buy by driving to Idaho and other neighboring
states and supporting their local economy.
But because this is the country that allows people to celebrate as they see
fit, we will each be able to enjoy our freedoms and learn from our fellow
citizens what is important. And the government will not be able to tell
either of us that one is appropriate and one is not. At least not yet.
God Bless the USA, and please have a safe 4th of July. Drive carefully
while you are supporting someone else's local economy and watch out for
those who think the best American tradition is to drive drunk.
Katie
