Be prepared to work as well!

Gordon has hydraulic equipment to move the log around. Whoever is
putting the boards away will be trying to keep up with that, and
Linn's machine puts the boards out plenty fast.

I made the mistake of trying to move them only one time as I stacked
them to get them out of the way. Because our logs were quarter sawn,
the sizes varied from one board to the next. One 1x10, one 2x8, one
4x4, three 1x16, etc. I realized that I really wanted the thickest
boards on the bottom to have the most weight on them as they dry.
Because I originally had put them in the final location, I got to
move each piece a second time to clear the storage location, then I
got to move them one more time as I placed them in the intended
stacking order. That work could have been reduced with some advance
thought. The oak is green and full of moisture, so a 2x16 - 10 was
plenty heavy. Especially on the third lift.

Now to wait for it to dry. Something like one year for each inch of
thickness. Some of the boards will not be ready for a couple of
years or more. Then they need to be planed to a flat surface and
made into something nice.
