It was a black snake. I watched the video on AOL and the  pilot was really 
amusing. When asked what he thought when the snake's head  appeared out of his 
instrument panel, he said, "I thought: this is not going to  be a good day."  
Fortunately, he also said the snake was not killed, just  slightly wounded 
after being smacked in the head, and was released. (I hate  seeing non-poisonous 
snakes destroyed...except maybe that tree snake from Guam  that kills every 
bird and other living creature in the vicinity.)
