There are two as yet unmentioned things that will
be compelling to Joy and her family to set their
sites on Forest Grove. Even if we didn't have all
the other things going for us, these would be
decisive.
Strawberries: I don't know how we overlooked
this. You can get just picked Oregon strawberries
elsewhere in the Western Oregon area, but that we
have 'em, grown within a mile of the stand, well,
that's compelling. If you've never had an Oregon
berry, you ain't lived. Nothing compares. The
California berries are not even close. (I drove
down TV hiway just past the Cornelius 76 and
Shell gas stations, and there they were. Half
flat = $10. It's our first box this year, so I'll
probably have to buy more tomorrow. Yum!) And
raspberries, black berries, blue berries... they
come next. It's berry time folks~!
City Owned Power: Forest Grove has a city owned
utility. We pay about a third less than the
locations served by privately owned companies.
That saves us big time. Imagine heating your
house with PP&L or PGE. It is so much better here
with the city utility.
Oh, it's great living here Joy! Did I mention
peaches? Hazelnuts? Buffalo grown right on the
outskirts of town? Fishing? Boating? My oh my.
