The human being is a remarkable creature, more
than able to change the world in a number of
ways, and very cleaver, too. That human activity
is responsible for the warming that is now
occurring is almost universally undisputed at
this point. The evidence is overwhelming.
That humanity cannot now act on our mistakes to
make corrections is a view held by some for
different reasons. In the case of the
administration, they see a response as somehow
counter to the interests of the oil industry.
(The people from big oil live on this planet,
too, I think!) That's a very small minded and
short sighted view. And Alan seems to think it is
all beyond us, out of our control, so why fight?
Mom nature IS big, but so is the cloud of carbon
dioxide you and I create driving, heating,
recreating, and flying. Why would humanity not
want to place controls on our activity to help
turn the tide? Isn't that just common sense?
There are answers. And if you feel we are just
pumpkins along for the ride, that what we do
makes no difference, then we will surely parish.
God gave us brains to use.
Hopefully the court can wrest control of the EPA
from the oil industry and put it back into the
hands of people who will use it for the common
good - saving the planet from catastrophe.
