Just to add to your Notary Public informational log:
All Notaries in Oregon are licensed by the State and can perform
their duties anywhere within the state.
Embossing is not recognized as an official stamp of a Notary. It
can be used, but it is of no value and will not be legally recognized
The State of Oregon sets limits on how much a Notary can charge. It
is basically $5/per signature. An upfront travel fee can also be charged
Almost all Chambers of Commerce have a Notary Public on staff -
Forest Grove Chamber of Commerce does. We do not charge for our members.
Anyone is welcome to call the Forest Grove Chamber for an appointment for a
Notary (503.357.3006) or stop in and see if our Notary is available.
The listing of Notary Publics on the Filing in Oregon page is only
those Notaries who ask to be put on the list. It is by no means complete.
A Notary license is good for four years at which time the person
must again pay their fee, take (and pass) a written test and purchase a new
official stamp.
Thanks to Bob Browning for arranging a class for Notary Publics at the
Chamber several years ago. It was a great class and if there is any
interest we would gladly schedule it again.

Subject: [Grovenet] Notary Public Information
Nature.
I feel so accomplished! By accident I once ran across a list of all the
notary publics in Illinois. Lo and behold, it worked for Oregon too! (Almost
as well...)
I googled "Notary Public in Oregon" and reached this page after a click or
two:
http://www.filinginoregon.com/Oregon/Notaries.htm
It is a list of all the counties in the state.
Another click on "Washington" will get you to a list of all the notaries
able to assist you in Washington County.
The names are not as well spaced as might be...and give only their names so
you will have to either recognize someone (I did) and then open that page to
see things like address, services, etc. Some are "here" in FG, one that I
noticed is in Medford but is allowed to do the whole state. That's
nice...but not if you aren't in Medford at the moment. Some have an
embosser, some don't. Maybe it doesn't make a difference to your needs.
ETC.
(Illinois at this point has a list of towns where the notary public's office
is located--that makes it much easier!)
Hope this will help someone...
Kristy
