If you want to volunteer and/or help locally a good place to start is the
Family Resource Center, located in Tom McCall East.  Martha Ochoa, director
and Laurie Heath, Asst. are two very dedicated women helping families and
children.  They run the Oregon Food Bank Gleaners program where every
Thursday afternoon families are helped with food, they have a clothing
closet, they work with NW Medical Teams to schedule a dental van in Forest
Grove several times a month, they handle 100's of food boxes for
Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The Family Resource Center quietly works to
better the lives of children and families in our area.
Our church works closely with them to provide food and lodging vouchers to
those who are in need.  The Center screens the applicants and then the
church supplies the vouchers.  It is an excellent partnership.

Martha was just recently honored with two awards.  1) Advocate of the Year
by the Oregon Association of Comprehensive Education and one of the Top 10
Latina women in the Pacific Northwest by "Latino Perspective."
