It seems to me that is
what we'll get if we ever see a Democratic President with half the power
that President Bush has wielded.
If so, it would surely be 30 plus years down the road. It's taken about that
long for the ideology of the Bush administration to gain this much power.
And he's the first president of any Party to so successfully consolidate power
into the executive branch at the expense of the other branches of government.
(If I'm wrong, I'll stand corrected by any true historians among you.)
Plus...I'm thinking really hard...I cannot name any Democratic president who has
been as far left as Bush is far right. I cannot think of any, either, who has
been so loathe to compromise or even to listen to opposing viewpoints.
Another thing: social conservatives have become such a persistent influence
that even the most progressive Democrats hesitate to oppose them on certain
hot button issues. The new Demos who gain office this election will not always
be voting along Party lines, that's for sure.
My two bits...add a $5 and maybe you can buy a cheap cup of coffee. (grin)
