[Grovenet] A little vindication . . . .

Very true, Mike.

We should not forget that the American voter chose corruption, death, and
destruction not only of other people and other lands but also of our own
society, undermining our reputation, our wealth and opening us to attack.
Why they chose it is the real question. Was it blind subservience to a
political party, unthinking indifference to the truth hoping that it wasn't
as bad as it appeared, or simply apathy and fear?

In many ways President Bush and his administration have done exactly what
the bulk of the American people have asked them to do. Voters wanted simple
answers and they got them. They wanted reassurance, and they got it. And
now, as the American people begin to question why they have not gotten the
results they expected, it's nearly time for this Administration to retire
and leave office while those questions go unanswered.

Until the voters change what they demand, we'll continue to get
administrations just like this.

A lot of folks are happy that Gov. Kulongoski won another term, but consider
that he won the election with less than 16% of the eligible votes! There are
just about 2.6 million people in Oregon eligible to vote(1) and the governor
got about 405,000 (2), less than 16% of the eligible total. That happened,
of course, because only 800,000 votes were cast for Governor.

What does that say about our "democracy"?

"Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is stepping down, sources tell CNN."

Hmmm...let's see...what constituency does he have outside of the White
House? He lost all four military newspapers in their Monday editions (good
timing), and his "management" of the war turned out to be the tipping point
in the D's electoral successes. Too bad that the resignations can't keep
going up and down the chain of command.

How 59 million people thought this administration was worth keeping in 2004
is completely beyond me; all the warning signs were there: lies,
corruption, stupidity, lies, unbelievable levels of sheer arrogance, threats
to civil liberties, lies, total failure to accept responsibility, electoral
fraud, corruption, total failure to be held accountable, lies, stupidity,
and lies to cover up lies. It's amazing to me that people found this kit
bag of incompetency worth voting for.

So, two more years of civic imprisonment with the idiot in the WH and his
dark side partner, Cheyney. Then relief...and a return to civic
responsibility, truth, civil liberties, honesty, responsibility...and the
rest of the list.
