Y'know, that almost justifies the 2 million they've already paid without
having to deal with showing the program or printing the book <G>.
Gad I HATE "sweeps week", especially since 30 years ago we discovered (when
I worked in advertising with major corporations) that the whole rating
system was nonsense. Even Nielson agreed that the numbers had nothing to do
with actual viewership. But they do provide some numbers for corporate
managers to justify ad budgets with. And, as Nielson points out, when a show
is reported to be high in their ratings, it's likely the actual viewership
will follow. People don't watch what they like, the tend to watch what they
think OTHERS like!
So Nielson's biggest contribution is to tell people what they want to watch.
Sheesh!
