Hi Everyone,
Just want to let everyone know that my Son and several of his friends are
performing "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) " at the
Forest Grove High School Studio Theatre this Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm.
If you have not seen this play, it is one of the funniest theatre
experiences you are likely to have. They have produced this show
themselves. They have worked extremely hard, and have been rehearsing in a
barn in Manning (yes, even these last few freezing nights.) My wife
Pruella, who some of you may know from Theatre in the Grove, is directing.
Below is the press release if you would like more information.
Thanks for putting up with a proud Papa.
Take Care,
Ken Centers
**********************************
The Drive-Thru Shakespeare Company have packed their trunks with everything
from skulls to skirts and daggers to dinosaurs for their performance of The
Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), running December 1st and
2nd at the Forest Grove High School Studio Theatre.
Having shrunk Shakespeare's wit and wisdom into manageable morsels of
madness, the actors tear around the stage in doublets, with a riotous romp
through all 37 of Shakespeare's plays.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) embodies one of
comedy's most essential impulses: the adolescent urge to take a baseball
bat to the culturally revered. A mix of pratfalls, puns, willful
misreadings of names and dialogue, clunky female impersonations, clean-cut
ribaldry and broad burlesque.
In this cult hit written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield of
the Reduced Shakespeare Company, the full works of the Bard have been
edited to just under two hours. The complete works of William Shakespeare
in one evening? Ambitious? Foolhardy? Insane? Absolutely! The actors are
unwilling to let any member of the audience have a bad time. They are
absolutely fearless and full of unending fun.
Audiences will be forced to throw out every preconceived notion of
Shakespeare as the three irreverent actors condense his entire works.
The cast of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) are
local actors Adam Barrett, Zatch Centers and Chris Schneider. Pruella
Centers directs. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) plays
December 1 and 2, 2006 in the studio theatre at Forest Grove High School.
Show times are at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $6 and are available at the door on
performance nights.
