Write down the license numbers ?? and then do what ?? Report them to a state
agency who will tell you they are too busy, and understaffed from "budget
cuts" to anything about it ?? But not too busy to take a legitimate
contractors fees and money because its a lot easier than hunting down
violators ??
You need to understand that the amounts of illegal workers in our state
helps fund state programs with out a corresponding outflow. ( Social
Security anyone ??) Due to the amount of false identification used, they are
a significant number of employers who may unkownlingly employee workers who
appear to be documented, and pay the requisite taxes, but the workers do not
draw on those benefits because of their "status". The money paid by the
employers then becomes part of the payments needed to fund state and federal
programs.
Social Security will be belly up a hell of a lot faster than it will if not
for the payments made and not drawn by the undocumented workers and the
matched by their employers.I don't have a problem with the people... I speak
Spanish, I have DOCUMENTED Guatemalan workers who are wonderful people. I
have stayed in their extended families homes in Mexico, they attend our
family gatherings, they have gardens at our place....they are merely using a
movement that allows them to achieve the American dream and a level of
prosperity they would NEVER achieve in their home countries.
And for the good of the order today.....as the token and vilified Republican
on here....and admitting that the Dem's will win the White House in 2008,
what will all you do to past the time when the Dems are in power ??.....:)

That might work for the contractors who hire somebody everyday, day in and
day out, but for most of us, social security, etc. is only due if we pay
more than $1500 per year to each person and unemployment is only due if we
pay more than $1000 per year to a single individual. So, all we have to do
is be like Wal-Mart and get our temporary employees up to more than 40
percent of the work force and we are home free!!

Pickup work? Are the employers paying workman's comp or reporting the
income? Maybe someone should write down the plate numbers of the
'employers.'

Well, Tom, maybe it is a big step to figure out the legal status of the
guys who hang around on the weekends. Many (perhaps not a majority, but
many) are legals trying to pick up some weekend work to help make their
money go to the end of the month. And many in the Latino community helped
build, pay for and support the buildings and staff at Centro. I have also
attended a number of community meetings there where nearly all of the
participants were Anglos.
So, sometimes the answers are not as simple as we would like them to be
since the questions are not simple!!
