[Grovenet] bad politics

So you would be in favor of the house ethics committee concluding their
investigation before Nov elections as the Democrats would prefer?
Then the facts would be in the hands of the voters before they vote.
Unfortunately this will not be resolved before voting, because the R's have
the majority on the committee and they can 'wait before hurling any more
accusations' until after the elections are over. Ah, ain't that sweet.

Were the disgusting e-mails sent to 18 year olds as well as the IMs? And
remember this isn't about sex, this is about a guy who wrote legislation to
protect children from naughty communications through computers, who was
participating in naugty communications through computers. It's not about
being gay either, it's about being a hypocrite within the family values
party. They eat their own.

I don't defend Foley. Nobody is defending Foley. Some people started
accusing Republican leadership of a cover-up. They may be right. I just
say that, as the Plame fiasco has shown, it may be a bit premature.

You may dismiss Drudge but some "journalists" respect him.
  http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=2514276&page=1

Given that you use common dreams as your sources, I think Drudge should do
just fine. He has already discredited ABC to some extend on this story by
publishing a report from a republican blogger who discovered the other day
that those bad IMs were produced while Foley was corresponding with an
18-year-old. And ABC has acknowledged the "error." (Haven't they learned
anything from Dan Rather?)

Also, the definition of pedophile may be very broad but what matter is the
law. There is no proof yet that any crime has been committed. There has
not been any sex with minors and those IMs were exchanged with an adult
(technically.) So if there was no crime there can't be a cover-up.

I'm just suggesting, as I did with the Plame fiasco, let's just wait
before hurling any more accusations. It seems you are always assume the
worst about Republicans.

  GroveNuts,

My personal opinion is that using Drudge as a source
is beyond worthless. Matt Drudge is the person who
blamed the pages for this situation, calling them little
beasts.

The fact remains, Foley is the responsible party. He
sent the messages he sent, no matter what any pages
wrote to him. Foley is a pedophile.

Anyone who is an apologist for him has twisted thinking.

More from Drudge:

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX MON OCT 5 2006 2:53:48 ET XXXXX

CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**

According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund,
the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the
resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got
into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well,
Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded Foley to type embarrassing
comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos.
The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of
political operatives favorable to Democrats. This source, an ally of Edmund,
also adamantly reports that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank
scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund.

The news come on the heels that former FBI Chief Louis Free has been named
to investigate the mess.

When the Plame thing happened, most of you jumped on Bush and Co. with all
kinds of accusations. I wondered then if there were enough facts to accuse
anybody of anything. Especially knowing what a liar Wilson was. It turned
out there was nothing to the original charges and Wilson is still a liar.

Now, without knowing anything you again throw accusations around.

Well, check this out. It may not amount to anything but this is getting very
interesting.

Is seems that Democrats are presumed Innocent unless and even after they are
proven guilty. Republicans, on the other hand, are assumed guilty unless and
even after they are proven innocent. Will this be another crow you should
but you won't eat?

[Disclaimer: Drudge is not always right. We are, after all, just human. And
somebody maybe pranking him.]
