This is the first peek at the new safety levy
which our homelessness group so heartily
supports. This is an opportunity to learn -
definitely a soft sell, without pressure or that
kind of thing. It will answer our questions about
what the November safety levy is all about.
Here is Russ Dondero's announcement:
There will be a public information Town Hall
meeting on the County Public Safety and Library
levies on September 14th in Pacific University's
Milky Way Building - across from the main
entrance of the campus on the corner of College
Way & 21st-
directly across the street from the United Church
of Christ.
Displays on both levy's will be on view from 5 to
7 p.m. At 7 p.m. the Town Hall, hosted by
Professor Emeritus Russ Dondero, will include
Commissioner Andy Duyck, who represents western
Washington County District 4 - the Banks,
Cornelius, Forest Grove, Gaston area as well as
representatives from the Sheriff's Office, the
District Attorney's Office and the WCCLS -
Washington County Cooperative Library Service.
The public as well as members of the Pacific
University community are welcome to learn more
about these two crucial county wide measures.
The Public Safety levy includes funding for a
wide range of services - meth interdiction and
incarceration; keeping criminals off the streets
in secure jail space and support for victims of
domestic violence. The Library levy continues
existing services such as support for summer
reading programs, literacy programs for kids and
book acquisition for patrons of all ages.
