Who are the Guerilla Girls? In 1985, a group of women artists founded
the Guerrilla Girls. They assumed the names of dead women artists and
wore gorilla masks in public, to conceal their identities and focus on
the issues of injustice. Now their numbers have grown and they travel
the world as feminist masked avengers, working collectively and
anonymously, talking, producing posters, billboards, public actions,
books and other projects to make feminism and social change funny and
fashionable. Through the use of provocative texts, visuals and humor
they expose inequity in the art world, film, politics and pop culture
and develop new and original plays, performances and workshops, street
theatre actions and residency programs that dramatize their message.

Sponsored by Pacific University's Center for Women & Gender Equity,
the Department of Theatre & Dance, and the Department of Art.
