Hi Allen,
Couldn't resist adding that about 18 months ago we had a film crew at our
family farm...and I got to be the one to be there to watch. I LOVED it!
My brother had a request...and both of us expected that "doing some filming"
meant that there would be a couple of kids from the local university and a
camcorder. Boy, were we wrong! There was a crew of 25, which they thought
was very "skeleton" indeed. Some were doing double duty on the jobs, for
instance. But they were all from either Chicago or Los Angeles, and included
all the things you see in the credits...producer (a "working" one...not so
usual), a director, a best boy, a key grip, sound man, makeup, on and on,
and several layers deep on many of the job descriptions; and four actors
too.
They were doing the director's "thesis" for graduation...and spending plenty
of money to do so (tho none found its way to us 8-)) with the hope that some
day their 20 minute story would be purchased and turned into a "full length"
film. It took them 3 1/2 days to film it. I watched most of the time, ate
with them, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the film from a very different
angle.
If you ever see something called "Pull", check it out. It's a "sweet" story
about a boy learning to do tractor pulling in order to win the girl...and
the old reprobate who helps him learn.
May you have as much fun with your venture!
