Okay... I'm reminded of the good people of Germany in the 1930's, or, for
that matter, a good many of the Islamic peoples today who are listening to
the Muslim radical Ayatollahs and Imams. 

Why should America be immune to that sort of self-delusional egotism among
the ignorant? 

We aren't. It's a plague. Perhaps one of the most dangerous plagues our
civilization will face. 

Compared to these people - American and Muslim - Saddam was the epitome of
reason and rationality. No wonder many Iraqi's which he was in power today.

To make magic work, you need a "willing suspension of disbelief"  
among the audience.  There is a large population in America that are  
still working for the magic show to continue.  They have no problem  
ignoring the reality.  There must be some motivation for their  
behavior.  I would suppose that they are looking for a "pay off" of  
some sort in exchange for their support.

Is it dishonest to ignore reality?  I think so.
