Interesting observation.
Sometimes it doesn't seem like it is much but the only thing we can do to
truly improve this situation and every other situation that we find
ourselves in is to protect and use our right to vote. Every election, every
time.
There is just a very thin line between the US and the rest of the world and
that is that we can change things with our votes. It doesn't often give
immediate results, though occasionally it can, but it does work.
We can make big changes or small changes or even no change when the
collective voice speaks.
And writing to your senators and representatives helps a lot too. All
together- speaking out and voting is much cheaper and faster than war.
Remember how the Iraq war was supposed to be quick and cheap? There is no
such thing as a quick and cheap war. But the Iraqis will change their
leadership from Saddam to who ever will be their new true leader in about a
total of 10-15 years. It will only take us a total of 8 years. : ) We
had a chance at 4 years but we missed it by just a slight amount. We will
learn a lot in the 4 years between when we missed our last chance and when
we have our next one. The Iraqis will learn a lot between their last chance
and their next chance too. But here in the US we have to exercise our
voting muscles and make sure we use them every chance we get.
