[Grovenet] Hosstyle Disdain for the NEWS MEDIA

I'm in complete agreement with Mike and Hoss. NBC "claims" they posted the info as a public service so that the rest of us may get an insight into Cho, and ostensibly future nutjobs. Cho got *exactly* what he wanted... virtual immortality... because it's plastered over the airwaves. How the impotent become omnipotent... simply break the record for mass killings and be sure to tape it and send it to the nightly news. I'm sure that in the future we'll get to see the actual killings (surprised the Columbine kids weren't videotaping actually).

It's *all about ratings*. It does speak volumes about us as America, and corporate America as well. They don't care *at all* about the feelings of the victims' families... just get the latest horror story out there so that we can all look and gape and exclaim "isn't this terrible!" Yes, it was terrible. But no more terrible than the 200 who died anonymously in Iraq and garnered 5 seconds of airtime.

We don't have nightly news anymore. We have weather, sports, and the daily crime report. The news media conglomerates are incapable of self-policing or having any self-control over what they put over the airwaves. Indeed, "Inside Edition" did a "did NBC do the right thing by putting Cho's manifesto on the air?" and quoted someone saying that "yeah, this gives us insight, blah blah blah." and then rerunning the clips themselves. Now that the clips are out, some stations are actually having the gall to say "we're now not going to show them anymore." Yeah... right... big deal.

There will be copycat killers in the future, and we can all thank mass media for their complete lack of morals and strict adherence to bottom line journalism. We can thank ourselves for not fighting back. As for me, my latest crusade is to get a scam ridden infomercial off the air on Channel 12 (Tax Sales Homes by John Beck... google it if you want to see how many are losing everything to this crook).

I suggest everyone think about what they can do to make this world a better place. That's what we're here for.

Regards,

Jeff Cooper
