[Grovenet] A little funny for the day . . .

One thing history has proven again and again and again, even recent history
over the past century, is that if you babble nonsense at the public long
enough and loud enough, a great many people will believe it is absolutely
true, no matter how absurd it may be.
People are more susceptible to that when they're under stress, fearing that
they are facing even harder times, as many Americans are today. Frightened
cattle are easier to stampede. Frightened people are too.
Those who want to deflect people from noticing the results of the absurd
babble will exhort us all to "Look ahead! Don't look back! That's old
history. Look to the future!!!"
People make mistakes. Even Presidents. It's how people handle their mistakes
that is the measure of the person as a leader, an adult, as someone to
trust.
To do that we look at their past performance, not their future promises.
