That's a good example.
I don't think it's healthy to command the American people to say "no".
The whole idea is NOT that the big parties select candidates. WE, the people
in the street, are supposed to do that. It's our responsibility, just as
it's our responsibility to vote.
The "anti" vote sounds to me like a disenfranchised public trying to rein in
a runaway oligarchy.
I hope we haven't come to that!

I meant to add, that we may have already had this result without an
obvious showing of that condition. The negative national feeling
toward Lyndon Johnson may have been the driving force for the Nixon
victory over Humphrey, while Nixon though that he had a mandate.
