Earlier this year, the Girl Scouts in our area compiled a list of Service
Project Ideas.  The file is attached and I hope it helps you out.  Let me

 Dear Grove Nutters,
I have a small enthusiastic group of six boy scouts in need of a service
project in conjunction with the Citizenship in the Community merit badge.
These kids are 11 years old. What we need is to find some organization
outside of scouting where the kids (with our supervision) can each provide 8
hours of service that is "for the good of our community." 
It is unlikely that the kids could do 8 hours at a one time, I imagine we'd
want to break it up and do two or three sessions.
Any of you folks have suggestions?
