[Grovenet] Verizon FiOS v. Comcast

There was an article about switching to fiber optics a while back in
one of the consumer reports outlets. Once you are off the copper
wire, you are likely to lose your ability to make calls if the power
goes out. And the company is under no obligation to let you switch
back to copper wires once enough people in your neighborhood are on
fiber optics. This became an issue for several folks who switched and
then lost power but couldn't call their power company to let them know.
The caveat from the consumer group was to be sure you know what you
are giving up when you switch as well as what you are getting. And it
was not isolated to one company or another. If you switch to fiber
optics it happens.
