Yes, being a registered party member doesn't make one a member of the "party
faithful" who vote the ticket regardless.
And I'm not belittling those who do vote the ticket regardless. I have known
many of those who firmly believe they and their party are right and if the
other party would only go away we'd enter a time of great prosperity and
success such as we've never seen. So they have thought about their decision
and 'voted' well in advance of any election for a philosophy and a
leadership who they are happy to see decide who will actually hold the
office of President, Congress, etc.
That leaves the final decision on election day up to those of us who are
listening, considering and deciding right up to the moment we mark or
ballots.

"It's tempting. But I can't. We can't. As citizens we inherited a solemn
responsibility to vote our conscience. We can't give away that
responsibility or our conscience, much less sell it for a comforting
fantasy.

As I have stated before I am registered republican, my husband is very
republican, but you are so correct, we are both just trying to see the who
and what, and we have a long time to decide. I am a collage graduate, which
doesn't mean much, and my MS must be really acting up because I can't
understand all the flip flopping, and yelling already that has begun! I say
drop the curtains and just the facts please. Muriel, in cold cold Oklahoma
