[Grovenet] Open Door Policy (WAS: Habla English?)

There you go, Mike, leaving out those important minorities who have
contributed so much to our country!!!!

Not to worry. All the Dutch people I know who have immigrated to America
speak and read English fluently. They wouldn't dream of asking Americans to
learn Dutch or demanding we spend our money providing bi-lingual services.

Thanks to all who have written here. This stream crops up periodically and
it's usually a stimulating dialogue, as it is here.

FYI: the Friends of the Library are sponsoring a community dialogue on
"Immigration in the US" scheduled for April 24. There is also a writing and
art contest for students, with prize money, for grades 5-12. Students will
share their work and we hope to have some local or state luminaries on a
panel to get the community dialogue started. We will also have translation
services available, but not in Dutch--sorry.
