That must've been quite an achievement for Titian, who died of the plague 
at the age of 91 (1485-1576).  (There's no agreement on his date of birth, 
with some sources claiming it was 1490; but 1485 seems to be the most 
commonly-accepted year).  Not to put too fine a point on it, but the 
"Allegory of the Battle of Lepanto" was finished a year before his death at 
the age of 91 or 86, depending on which sources you prefer.  (Several 
online sources repeat the biographies in this posting, including the notion 
that Titian finished "Lepanto" at 98.)

But the list is inspiring even if Titian was "only" 85 when he finished the
