Steven asked:
They why did you post this in the first place?
-----------------------------------------
For those who are interested. Even for you, so you'd know, in your profound
ignorance, what to rail and rant against!
Like the subject says, it's a "chance to be involved in your future". The
AARP is a hugely powerful lobbying organization. For that reason I'm
interested in what they are doing, whether I agree with it or not. In this
case, I find much to admire in the platform they published.
If there's one thing you might grasp, it's that your pejorative words like
"lies", "crap" and "scaring" don't change the world. They are the tools of
those who hate free societies and free discourse; those who try to shout
down all but what they want others to believe.
In a free society like ours we have them everywhere, trying to bludgeon the
people into silence with their words and accusations. They are trying to
undermine our freedoms. They rant on talk radio for liberal and conservative
political causes. They rant on radio and TV for their particular faith. And
they rant on street corners in our communities, even virtual street corners
like Grovenet.
If the AARP asks me for money at some point, whether I send it will depend
upon what I've learned in the interim about their effort (and whether I'm
still in debt after paying my last medical bill). I don't have a problem
saying "no". Nor do I have a problem changing my mind, what some call "flip
flopping", given new information that I find trustworthy.
You see, what those with closed minds call "flip-flopping" is the sign of a
healthy, open, learning mind. We change what we support and what we do based
on the latest and best information available.
"Flip-flop" was a term coined by those who want to shut down an open, free
society and replace reason with their personal political or religious faith.
Those people are everywhere. You are not alone.
