Ed,

You are absolutely correct about the connection between music, specifically
learning to perform, and enhanced achievement in other academic areas.
There is a myriad of research by many brain experts showing this.

What is particularly frustrating is that so many administrators either
don't believe the research results or choose to ignore them. It should be a
well accepted means of enhancing achievement, but instead it is all to
often pushed aside and the importance minimized.

Anything you can do to help these people understand the importance of the
performing arts will be greatly appreciated.
