Funding is set by the state for operating budgets, and the local levy was
rejected for capital improvements..unless the state is involved, the funding
level is the same.

Jeff's comments about NCLB pretty much sums it up. Reach these numbers, or
we cut your Federal funding, muddy your District and school's names in the
media. Teaching to the test and scores are driving these things. If the
schools fail to meet certain standards in core competency's, they recieve
sub standard ratings. You cannot sacrifice core teaching for the entire
group, if you have to meet the needs of a few

I support music, I was in music in high school and it was a lifelong thing
with me as well. I play rhythm bluegrass guitar now. Don't label the
teachers and administrators as the bad guys here, they are merely doing what
they need to do to keep the required ratins. take it up with NCLB and the
Feds...
