Steven, if you knew Jack Musser, the School Board and some of the administration such as Al Rogers, you'd know this isn't a ploy to get more money.  I've been very impressed by the passion and honesty folks like Mr. Musser and the others.  They really care about both the students and the opinions/ideas of parents.  Please believe me when I say this isn't a ploy to get more money.  These folks don't have hidden agendas like that.  Dale Wiley truly nailed it in his email posting: "Reach these numbers, or we cut your Federal funding, muddy your District and school's names in the media. Teaching to the test and scores are driving these things. If the schools fail to meet certain standards in core competency's, they receive sub standard ratings. You cannot sacrifice core teaching for the entire group, if you have to meet the needs of a few.  Don't label the teachers and administrators as the bad guys here, they are merely doing what they need to do to keep the required ratings."

It is the same ploy that cities use. Cut Libraries, Police, Fire. Don't 
dare cut back on anything else. People wouldn't notice.
I don't want to see M&A cut.
Q: What is the difference in making it an after school program? Sports 
are after school. How would it be different?
