[Grovenet] Fw: Personal CO2 footprint

Interesting that you bring that up right now Ed, with the news covering that
rising support in the Congress for huge subsidies to the coal industry to
provide us with more locally-developed fuels by converting goal to liquid
products. The watchword is "Energy Independence". Not a bad watchword and
long overdue, but the emphasis seems to be on flooding our society with
abundant converted coal fuels to run our cars and everything else at prices
below their normal cost (thanks to the billions in subsidies and profit
guarantees in the bills being considered) so people can fill up and run
their gas-guzzlers cheaper without any guilt over supporting the Arab
states.

If I think about that too much I like the dog that bit his own tail. They're
talking about reducing "greenhouse gasses" too. It's quite a juggling act:
business sees an opportunity and it's moving into the vacuum left by years
of poor leadership in Washington. The business opportunity is, of course, to
funnel all those dollars we're sending to the middle east into US jobs and
the US economy. That's very, very good, but it's only one of the pressing
issues we face.

Oops! My mistake, should have said only 6.8
planets. Whew!

I think we may have done this before but it may
have changed.

My score? 30! We would need 8.5 planets if I am
typical.
