This Wednesday will be the last chance to shop at the Guiding Paws
Guide Dog Puppy Raising Club booth at the Forest Grove Farmer's
Market.

You can support the Guiding Paws by purchasing a $1 raffle ticket for
the chance to win a handmade leather leash. There will also be a

Buy a kiss from Bailey for $1.

You can also buy handmade dog accessories, including leather leashes
for $18, tie downs for $10, figure 8 tug ropes for $4, and rope chew
toys for $2.

All proceeds from sales go to support the Guiding Paws Guide Dog
Puppy Raising Club.

Below is information about the Club, provided by Kristin Tarnowski:

Guiding Paws Guide Dog Puppy Raising Club is based in Forest Grove.
We work with Guide Dogs for the Blind, volunteering to raise guide
dog puppies. Each raiser commits to approximately one year with a
puppy. The raiser is responsible for socializing the puppy in public,
as well as teaching it calm in home manners. It is the hope that each
puppy raised under the loving care of volunteers will someday become
a guide dog for a visually impaired person.

Occasionally there are dogs that don't make the strict program for
becoming guide dogs, who are passed on to other service programs such
as search and rescue, drug sniffing, dogs for diabetics or maybe even
becoming a wonderful pet for another family.

As a volunteer puppy raiser it is our duty to purchase crates, food,
toys, beds and any other necessary tool for raising a puppy.
Fundraising is a big part of our club. The money will be used to help
offset some of the cost associated with raising a puppy.

Because we are a new club, established less than a year ago, our
funds are very limited. Participating in the Forest Grove Farmer's
Market has enabled us, as a club to increase our funds, as well as
spread the word about Guide Dogs for the Blind and Puppy Raising.
