[Grovenet] The Iraqi View

In today's O, there is the statistic that 68% of Americans still trust
the military to make a reasonable end of the war...but only 5% (who ARE
these people?) still trust the Bush administration to do so. If the
Bushies are providing the "data"--hmmm, where will that get us?

In my posting entitled, "This just makes me ill," I provided a link to
an article that shows that the administration is, once again, carefully
choosing the military and political experts whose compilations and
interpretations of data are favorable to their views, even though those
experts and constructions are minority viewpoints very heavily
influenced by ideology. In other words, they are ignoring "facts on the
ground" in favor of their belief system, while they are making
decisions. That's how we got into this war, as many people on this forum

have pointed out.

Unfortunately, this pattern has been very widely reported in too many
Federal agencies for me to be able to keep count -- NASA, NOAA, HHS,
EPA, DOJ, come to mind off the top of my head... It is the modus
operandi of this administration, and it is unworthy of trust, to say the

least.

How can we even have a sensible argument if the books are so heavily
cooked? Our illustrious leaders want us to blindly hand over -- what is
it -- either $123 billion or $170 billion, as well as almost
unimaginable numbers of lives, to continue doing what we have been doing

-- based on "evidence" provided by political hacks, cronies, and
profiteers -- in other words, loyal "Bushies." It really does make me
ill.

Mike Steele posted a short sad note a little while back bemoaning his
feeling that as these revelations pile up, many of us are becoming numb,

resigned, and are just trying to wait out the last months of this worst
presidency in the history of the US -- but unfortunately, we have to
make enormously costly, momentous, historic decisions now. Based on
what "facts?" Let us be exceedingly careful whom we believe.
