I it and I read the transcription of an interview with former Sen  
Fred Thompson (1994-2002) on Fox recorded prior to his announcement.

He believes that we have faced the same enemy for "a few hundred  
years".  He believes the the United States has the "Best medical care  
in the world."  He has repeated the "mushroom cloud over an American  
city" line.  He believes that without the Iraq invasion "Saddam would  
have been there ... still developing his plans for a nuclear  
capability. ... Going in there and deposing him was a good thing."   
He supports a preemptive attack on Iran "if they're close to getting  
the weapon".  He believes that "Roe v. Wade was a wrong decision".

He would like to alter the tax code to keep taxes low for the  
wealthy, and reduce "Social Security and Medicare and entitlements".

I have already heard all of this from George Bush, Newt Gingrich and  
the Republican Congress that gave us Iraq and a spiraling Federal  
deficit.  Fred Thompson doesn't seem to offer an alternative to "stay  
the course".
