G-Nuts...there was a poignant moment last night, rare enough on American
TV, when Jon Stewart interviewed, via a translator, the president of
Bolivia, Evo Morales on The Daily Show. Morales comes from the Aymara
tribe of indigenous people and is probably the first indigenous person
to lead a S. American country since the Spanish conquest.

I think Morales was a little baffled at first (and who knows what gets
lost in translation?) as he was facing a comedian...but he showed great
dignity, a soft-spoken firmness, a deep concern for the underprivileged,
and a total commitment to what he called The Millennium for Life. It
was such a powerful moment. If you missed the interview, here is a link
to it...Geri says it'll be the 9th one down or so in "Most Recent
Videos." The title is "President Evo Morales."

What's missing is the blustering, the swaggering, the snickering, the
hubris, the thoughtlessness of "our leader."
