Not any more than it implies that our school administrators have
chosen a religion for the school when they rent out a gym every
Sunday for church services.
In order to rent space in a school you have to meet certain
requirements and be approved by the local school committee and pay a
fee.
But if the public has paid for the building and they can recoup some
of the expenses by renting space to non commercial causes then the
public gets more bang for their buck and society doesn't have to eat
up more space building large structures for low volume uses.
We have had many birthday parties for our kids who have birthdays in
rainy months in the school gym. It works out great because there is
enough space for them to run around, there are bathrooms available,
they don't get muddy, etc.
You, of course can't leave the place trashed and you have to plan in
advance, no last minute rentals if the park doesn't work out etc.
I'm sure your local private school does the same thing. You should
check it out. As a paying family at your school you might even get a
discount for rental or who knows it may even be free. Private schools
can do that sort of thing even if public schools can't.
