“Faire in the Grove” will transform area around Marsh Hall into medieval
village complete with music, food, crafts and feats of bravery.
On Saturday April 26, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., the Pacific University
History Department and the Shire of Dragon’s Mist of the Society for
Creative Anachronism (SCA) will host the 4th annual Medieval Faire and
Tournament. Faire in the Grove will feature demonstrations of archery,
fencing, royal court protocol, medieval cooking, crafts and much more.
Over 4,000 people are expected to attend the community and family event,
which is free and open to the public.
Throughout the day-long event, SCA members will demonstrate medieval
dancing, weaving, artwork, costuming, history and blacksmithing.
Additionally, knights, lords, and ladies will don their armor and spend
the day competing in a variety of marital arts styles for prizes and
honor on the field of battle. At the end of the evening, a Baron and
Baroness will hold court to award the tournament winners and recognize
volunteers for their achievements.
Performances will include Pacific musical groups and well-known
performer Alexander James Adams, the heir to the Heatherlands. In
addition to the performances and demonstrations, vendor booths will sell
food, weapons and books including jewelry, hand-made medieval items,
handcrafted leather journals, herbs and baked goods, candles, soap,
fantasy collectables, crowns, magic wands and swords.
Faire in the Grove would like to thank the Elise Elliott Trust for
funding support.
