Thanks for enlightening us regarding the background of Ms. Pickler.
You are absolutely correct when you state, "Maybe children don't learn as
much when they are left dangling by the adults in their lives." I think
many people woluld be astounded it they knew the magnitude of this in our
society. The number of kids "left dangling" is staggering. And it is not
just the parents that bail and abandon. Many parents are there physically
but virtually neglect their children. There are many reasons for this.
Children without caring, involved parents are at a marked disadvantage and
for many, that disadvantage is for life. NCLB, however flawed and misguided,
is an attempt to reach those kids. Unfortunately, there are aso many of them
that most districts are overwhelmed trying to meet the standards set forth.
