G-Nuts...in case you haven't heard this, Principal John O'Neill has been
nationally recognized for his outstanding work:

 

"Forest Grove High School Principal John O'Neill has been selected for a
prestigious Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award. State
Superintendent of Public Instruction Susan Castillo announced the
surprise award at an all-school assembly Thursday. The award includes a
$25,000 cash prize. Castillo said O'Neill has transformed FGHS "into a
place of substantial academic improvement" and noted the tremendous
strides in academic achievement during O'Neill's six years as principal.
O'Neill called the award "a reflection of the success teachers, students
and staff create on a daily basis at Forest Grove High School." The
Milken Educator Awards were established in 1985 to reward, retain and
attract high caliber teachers and administrators."

 

Also, a local philanthropist recently donated $1 million for FGHS grads
and scholarships:

 

"Forest Grove High School students are getting a million dollar boost
from a long-time Forest Grove education advocate. Harold Wyatt (center,
pictured with Principal John O'Neill and Superintendent Jack Musser) has
donated $1 million to a scholarship fund that will be administered by
the Oregon Community Foundation. The Harold Alfred Wyatt Fund will
generate at least $45,000 per year for scholarships. In addition, Wyatt
has designated another $1 million for future scholarships to come from
his estate. Wyatt decided to establish the fund after reading about the
academic progress Forest Grove High School has made in recent years.
"Forest Grove High School has made quite a name for itself in the last
year or two," said Wyatt, 94, who founded Flavorland Foods. "It's been a
great change and we have something to capitalize on."
