No. I meant only what I wrote. That we have too many citizens not educated
well enough to function effectively. I call them "under-educated".
Sure, Ms Pickler might be handicapped. I have no way of knowing why she's
"under-educated" only that she is (unless she's an excellent actor). And she
is like too many others I have met.
What does that say about us as a society?
If she's been denied an education, who's fault is that? Is it not the right
of every child in America to receive a basic education?
If she is handicapped, why do we put her on television and laugh at her?
What next, do we tie up midgets and use them for footballs on Monday night
for our national amusement?
I may not have the academic credentials to produce a scholarly paper on the
root causes of ignorance in our nation. I won't try.
But I don't need academic credentials to see that something is terribly
wrong, both in our pretense of education for the masses and in our attitude
toward those who have far to little education to function well.
