[Grovenet] A honking big increase in the City fees . . . . .

Good morning to all of you .

There are many of you that I have not had an opportunity to meet yet since
my arrival in Forest Grove a few months back. However, I am on the local
interest list and read your grovenet postings. After reading some of the
messages this morning, I felt like I should "sent a note" t all of you!

I would like to clarify that there was notice of the meeting last night
posted in a couple of outlets -- both the Argue and the News Times had
information on it -- in addition, on several occasions the last two months I
have included information on the Hearing AND asked for input from our
Chamber members through our weekly news update that goes out. (and yes, the
manager at Frye's gets that bulletin!)

I did attend the hearing last night along with Bob Browning to share the
input I had received from some of our Chamber members with the Council.

City staff will be reworking the ordinance between now and an early February
Council Meeting when there will be a second Public Hearing. I am sure that
Bob will be "keeping an eye" on this and keep you all informed.

Thanks.
Teri

You know . . . you're right!

But being serious, I do wonder why no notice was sent out to FG business
owners about the proposal being discussed this evening. My wife never
received notice and when we were working out at Power House Gym we were
talking to the manager of Frye's who, after hearing about the meeting agenda
item, was also puzzled as to why Frye's never received notification.

I know common sense and government can oftentimes be like same pole magnets,
but I have to believe someone in our city government would be knowledgeable
enough to ask the question of, "Have we informed business owners we'll be
discussing this proposal? We haven't? Let's hold off discussion until
after all have first been informed." This is why I always say that
99.99999% of all problems are due to either lack of communication,
miscommunication, or the listening party misinterpreted the communication.
I'll take a SWAG that their was a lack of complete communication, i.e. the
agenda was published but nobody went the extra mile to inform the most
affected party, that being biz owners. It would most certainly be very good
to know.

Can't wait to hear what was discussed.

Hey Allen, that sounds like one of President Bush's speeches on Iraq!
