Alan,
If you are worried about a "Global Poverty Act" designed to
impoverish Americans, consider this:
American buy goods and oil from the Chinese, Arabs and others.
The Chinese, Arabs and others buy American goods, but not enough to
use up all the money we give them.
This employs Chinese, Arabs and others while American workers lose
their jobs.
The American workers must borrow money to make ends meet.
The Chinese, Arabs and others loan money to America.
American use the borrowed money to buy goods and oil from the
Chinese, Arabs and others
... repeat as necessary to ensure that Americans are in poverty and
the nation is in debt.
In an unregulated, free market the dollar cost of foreign goods and
oil would go up until trade balances.
In an unregulated, free market the yuan cost of American goods would
go down until trade balances.
We don't have an unregulated, free market setting the price of
dollars vs yuan.
We don't have a government that wants the dollar to decline to a
level that will restore American jobs.
We have a government that wants to continue to borrow foreign money
We have a government that wants Americans to continue to borrow money
and stay in debt
We have a government that wants to keep America dependent upon oil
(foreign and domestic)
Don't worry about the United Nations taking your money, your jobs or
your freedom sometime in the future.
The Patriot Act is already taking your freedom.
The national debt and consumer debt is already taking your money
The overpriced dollar is already taking your jobs.
The government is working to "keep the dollar strong" so that they
can "keep gasoline prices low". The government is working to keep
the dollar strong so that foreign investors will keep financing
American debt. The strong dollar is killing American sales to the
rest of the world. The unbalanced trade is costing American jobs and
pushing Americans into poverty. Yet, those who try to wean the US
off of oil and debt are considered unpatriotic.
