[Grovenet] E-Card from Hoss

Sorry to hear both of you had problems. I got out in early 70's and
my biggest problem was the way the government was cutting benefits
and dumping personnel as the war wound down. We actually had to sue
the federal government to get paid a bonus that they were obligated
to pay. It went to the Supreme Court, and we won, so I know they
were obligated.

Oregon offered the Veteran's home loan program and the GI bill was
still in effect. I didn't use the VA benefits because they didn't
fit in my life at the time, so I cannot say how well they were
administered. And since I had six years of active duty, I don't know
anything about the Reserve units here.

I wasn't living inside Portland so I cannot say how service people
were treated there. Washington County was okay. No bands or
parades, but Rose Festival still had the "adopt a sailor" program going.
